Publishing Assistant – Virtual Part-Time Contract Position
Position Overview
We're seeking a detail-oriented Publishing Assistant to join our virtual team on a part-time contract basis. This role offers the opportunity to support a growing publishing house while gaining hands-on experience in the publishing industry. You'll work closely with our team to ensure smooth operations across multiple facets of our business.
This position will grow in terms of hours worked and responsibility over time.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and update financial spreadsheets with accuracy and attention to detail
Upload and manage sales data across publishing partner platforms
Update and maintain company website content to ensure current information
Research and identify potential marketing leads and opportunities
Some project management responsibility
Provide general administrative support to the publishing team
Assist with communication and coordination tasks as needed
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Publishing, or related field
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven research abilities and resourcefulness
Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Able to juggle multiple tasks at one time and shift priorities as needed
Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
Self-motivated with strong time management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in publishing, media, or related industry
Familiarity with Basecamp and/or other content management systems
Experience with spreadsheet software and data management
Interest in women’s literature and supporting female authors
