She is a visual artist, writer and bishop in The Episcopal Church. In 2012, she became the first woman elected bishop in the Diocese of Virginia. Her years of leadership encompassed the COVID-19 pandemic and her journey through breast cancer. Susan delights in exploring the intersections between spirituality, nature and the arts, always encouraging others to tell their own stories in words or images. Susan received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Rutgers University and a Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York City. She shares a colorful home in Richmond, Virginia, with her husband, Tom Holliday, and their sweet, stubborn chihuahua, Georgia. You can follow Susan on X and Instagram @BishopGoff.
